Job Overview:
We need a reliable scale operator. Most importantly, this role provides for efficient and precise processing of scrap metal deliveries. Your work as a scale operator includes serving customers, issuing weight tickets, and observing quality control standards. Prior experience in the scrap metal industry is beneficial but not mandatory. A scale operator plays an important part in our business by facilitating the processing of all transactions in an efficient manner.
This position requires attention to detail, great organizational skills, and great customer service skills. As a scale operator, you will work closely with customers and internal employees to ensure accuracy in weighing and ticketing. You will also be required to ensure safety standards are maintained, ensuring all processes are company and regulatory compliant.
Key Responsibilities:
. Weigh and ticket incoming customers as they cross the scale.
. Use WeighMaster software to print tickets fast and efficiently.
. Direct the customers appropriately in order to provide smooth traffic.
. Sort the scrap materials in the manner that guidelines have laid down.
. Provide efficient customer service through answering questions and solving problems.
. Ensure proper documentation of all the transactions and within company guidelines.
. Keep the area clean.
. Assist in administration work involved with weight documentation.
. Communicate with other staff effectively in order to coordinate the functions.
. Observe all the rules and regulations related to safety.
. Track and report weight measurement fluctuations.
. Help enhance operational effectiveness.
. Collaborate with the logistics team to ensure accurate shipping documentation.
. Detect and report equipment maintenance problems.
. Adhere to company policy for the handling of hazardous materials.

. Logistics and shipping document experience is a plus.

. Availability to work in any type of weather, hot, cold, rainy, or snowy.
